Tickets The Bills are an extraordinary quintet from the west coast of Canada, renowned for their instrumental virtuosity, lush vocal arrangements, exuberant live performances, evocative songwriting and refreshingly innovative interpretations of traditional tunes.
The band features an all-star line-up of talent that includes Chris Frye (guitar, lead vocals), Marc Atkinson (mandolin, guitar, vocals), Adrian Dolan (fiddle, accordion, piano, vocals), Richard Moody (violin, viola, vocals) and Scott White (upright bass). All busy musicians, The Bills had been working on other musical projects until they recently reunited to record a new release yet to be titled. They will be sharing some of the new tunes as well as music from Yes Please, and their Juno Award nominated album Let Em Run (released on Red House in April, 2005).und the globe. They will make a stop on their California tour at the Arcata Playhouse on Tuesday, September 15. They have racked up a string of Canadian music awards and a devoted fan following that extends across North America and Europe.
Drawing musical inspiration from a broad range of North American traditions, a melange of European stylings, rhythms of Latin America, and melodies of the wandering Romany peoples, The Bills have forged a musical style all their own that transcends musical boundaries and defies simple categorization. With three main writers in the band, The Bills have developed a glorious and growing repertoire of songs that speak of their own part of the world.
Whether entertaining an intimate theatre audience or a festival crowd of 10,000, these five gifted multi-instrumentalists are masters at bridging the gulf between stage and audience to create a completely unique and exciting musical experience.
The Bills long-awaited new album will featuring almost all originals, the album is a vibrant collection of instrumentals and songs that perfectly showcase why The Bills are known the world over as one of the most boldly innovative roots bands, always remaining true to the global acoustic traditions they revere.
The performances are presented by Playhouse Arts in association with Humboldt Folklife Society.
