    Creamery Festival 2019

The Creamery Arts Festival returns August 15-18 with five days of events for the whole family.

The events commence on Thursday, August 15 at 7 p.m. with the first of six performances from Mendocino County’s own Flynn Creek Circus. This charmingly nostalgic and surprisingly fresh all-human circus will perform in their vintage big top tent with top quality acts including tightrope walkers, aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, and comedians in an all-new show Out of Hatwww.flynncreekcircus.com

Friday, August 16,  from 6 to 9, the historic Creamery District will be abuzz with Third Fridays,  highlighting local artisans, cider, food, music, and a family-friendly atmosphere. www.creamerydistrict.org

Continuing on Saturday, August 17 at 7:30  is the Playhouse’s signature outdoor performance spectacle Elemental with giant puppets, dancers, stilt walkers, live music and beautiful paper lanterns, all happening around the Creamery building. This free family-friendly event, features our Elemental Pageantry workshop students, Fairies from Redwood Raks and professional artists.

Playhouse Arts commissioned local artist Lush Newton to create a special outdoor art exhibit,  inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Creamery Building. The exhibit, titled “California State Creamery; The Land of Milk and Honey,”  showcases  Newton’s unique whimsical style in several oversized art pieces placed around the building, including representations of a historical train engine, a family of Portuguese farmers and a special ode to Creamery Building architect Franklin Georgeson.

Tim Gray’s Footfall was created to accompany a stroll around the Creamery District. Gray states, “The world is quite a noise filled place. So much so that most of us screen out much of this sound(sic). This piece is designed to envelop the listener into another aural world, and alternative universe in sound’.  These files are freely downloadable at  (website tbd).

Support for the Creamery Festival comes from the California Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Footprint Foundation, local business sponsor Wildberries Marketplace and many individual donors.
