Yurok Storytelling with Ernie Albers Jr.

Sunday, April 3rd   3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Yurok Storytelling with Ernie Albers Jr.

Sunday, April 3, 3:00 p.m.

Live, In person at the Big Top Circus Tent in Arcata.

Gather and hear Ernie Albers Jr. tell traditional stories from the Yurok tribal people. These stories will help audiences get connected with Yurok cultural traditions and learn life lessons along the way.

Ernie Albers is a Yurok tribal member as well as a Karuk and Hupa descendent. Ernie comes from a long line of traditional storytellers and has been deeply rooted in ceremony and culture from a young age. Taking lessons learned from ceremony Ernie utilizes storytelling to relate them to life and obstacles in today’s world while also making them fun and interactive. Ernie co-owns Lifted Arcata, a personalized group training gym specializing in functional movement and human specific training. He has certifications in Crossfit level 1 and 2, Functional movement systems (FMS) level 1, and Fascial stretch therapy (FST) level 1 and 2. Ernie strives to run Lifted in the same way as a ceremony. He wants Lifted to feel like a community and family, putting community, health -physical, mental, and spiritual- as a priority.

This event is free to the public! It will be followed by Ner-er-Ner: Getting to Know Local Coastal Natives event.

Unvaccinated Guests will be required to wear masks.
