Friday, December 3rd 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Arcata Playhouse announces the return of its fifteenth annual Holiday production, this year entitled The Jig and Thistle Radio Hour Holiday Show. A radio show with a live studio audience, set in the wintery wonderland of Alberta, Canada, this festive performance features variety acts, community guests, local music, and blowing snow galore! December 3, 4, 10, & 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday December 5 at 2:00 p.m. Live in person at the Arcata Playhouse and live streamed from the Playhouse on Humboldt Hot Air on Friday, December 10.
Last year due to Covid the Arcata Playhouse chose to close the holiday show to the public and solely broadcast over radio. As the Playhouse celebrates a return to live performance, this year’s holiday show is sure to be memorable for guests who attend! Of course, for those who can’t attend in person, the show will also be streaming online through Humboldt Hot Air on Friday December 10 at 7pm.
The slightly irreverent and wacky first act will be the Holiday Show in the theatre with various acts, community guests and music. After that, the audience will move outside to enjoy the second act with hot beverages and a live band in the tent. Depending on which night patrons attend, they get to experience any of a variety of guest performers including James Zeller, the Julie Fulkerson and Gwen post string duo, the fluid and flowing dancing of Shoshanna, Humboldt Bandemonium, the Blue Dragon Steel Pan Band, Donald Forrest, Blake Ritter’s Academy Fiddlers, Christmas carolers, and more! Audiences will enjoy Playhouse returning artists as well as new faces to the holiday tradition.
General admission is $10, with tickets for kids priced at $5. $25 will get your family in. Attendees are required to wear masks and show proof of vaccination. Unvaccinated kids (under 18) will be provided a rapid test. 1251 Ninth St. in the Creamery District of Arcata.
For those who can’t attend in person, there will be a live stream of the event during the Dec. 5th show. Mark your calendar and check back for updates on how to catch this virtual stream!
