O2F Festival opens with Women of the Northwest

The first annual 02F Festival is kicking off March 2nd with Women of the Northwest. This festival's aim is to celebrate creative women in our community. The theme of this year's festival is Zero to Fierce: an opportunity to discover, inspire, and create.

The 02F Festival presents a week of fun, exciting, and provocative activities to inspire our community to work, talk, and play together. It'll kick off with a revival of the hit production Women of the Northwest followed by a convivial symposium, a vocal improvisation workshop with renown singer Rhiannon, a wild cabaret, an interactive art installation, inspiring panel discussions on health, art, business, activism, and more. Back by popular demand! A Playhouse Arts and Zero to Fierce revival of the 2013 hit production Women of the Northwest will feature new stories celebrating the diversity of Humboldt County. Featuring original live music, this production is a montage of women's lives behind the redwood curtain. The show explores the stories of amazing female Olympians, Native Women, immigrants, bohemians, mothers, schoolmarms, cross-dressers, and more.

Rhiannon PERFORMANCE

A vibrant gifted singer, composer, performance artist and master

 

 

teacher Rhiannon has a unique and potent blend of jazz, world music, improvisationand storytelling. Rhiannon will enchant the audience with her passionate, limitless voice, creative storytelling and improvisational genius.

Rhiannon VOCAL RIVER WORKSHOP   

THURSDAY & FRIDAY, MARCH 9 and 10, 2017

10:00-1:00 (lunch break)  2:30-4:30 each day (5 hours a day/total of 10 hours)

Using Rhiannon 's Vocal River exercises, the workshop will deepen your improvisational vocabulary, study melody, harmony, rhythm and tone and then circle up and sing. We will sing together to find our unique and personal sound, working alone, in pairs, and in ensemble collaborations using the pleasure of physical movement while combining intuition and invention with skill and heart. 

LIVE GIRLS SHOW

 

 

Friday, March 10 at 9:30pm

Live Girls Show is 1 hour of mayhem brought to you by Portland-based art collective MashLAB (Lou Watson, Aiyana Cunningham, Kari Lawrence, Laura Jacobsen and Sarah Canterberry).  A glittery game show with questions, quotes, wigs and video clips that challenge both the contestants and the audience to win the ultimate prize. But maybe playing by the rules won't win you any points and what is a fact anyway?  LIVE GIRLS SHOW is actually a show, with girls, who are live. Tickets $15 general & $13 students and members. 02F World Cafe & Market

Saturday, March 11 11am-4pm 

An eclectic mix of food, fun, & fine art. Come wander through art installations, vendors, a knittery, and a fashion-for-the-resistance show at 1pm! FREE

02F Cabaret

Saturday, March 11 at 9:30pm

Zero to Fierce's closing night Cabaret. Featuring Emcee Jacqueline Dandeneau, with a variety of local acts and shenanigans, including The Brendas, Barbara Penny, Joanne Rand, Shoshanna, Kaitlen Osburn, Sarah McKinney, Jan Bramlett, Therese FitzMaurice, and MashLAB from Portland, Oregon. This is sure to be a raucous good time. Be sure to buy your tickets early, Cabaret's usually sell out!

    This O2 festival is purely dedicated to woman where all the participants in this festival are woman only. This festival is celebrated to honor and respect the thoughts and creativity of woman. This will encourage the woman community to think more creatively in doing their work.
