Buy Tickets The Arcata Playhouse will host a benefit fundraiser for the North Coast Preparatory Academy’s Youth Climate Group who will be making the journey to Paris in December for the international United Nations Climate Conference. The event will take place on Friday, November 13 and will feature Randles/LaBolle/Amirkhan Trio with special guest violinist Rob Diggins.
The RLA Trio is a collection of three of the top jazz players in the area. They are, Tim Randles (piano) Mike LaBolle (drums) and Bobby Amirkhan (bass). Members of the band have played in Africa, Hawaii and L.A.. They have been featured artists at the Morris Graves Museum, Arcata Playhouse and Folklife Fest Jazz Nite. The evenings guest violinist Rob Diggins works mostly in the classical arena as a principal player with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra and San Francisco’s Magnificat but will be showing off his jazz chops for the benefit. The night will include a short set by the NPA Flute Ensemble and w presentation from the students traveling to Paris for the Climate Conference.
In Paris the NPA student group will collaborate with Concordia, a French non-profit organization that will host youth groups from 30 countries to attend events and share performances during the Climate Conference.
