Teen Zine release event

Apprentice_Group_Photo_2016_web.jpgApprentice Entertainment Zine release, Tuesday November 1, 4 to 5pm at the Playhouse. Beverages and snacks available.

The members of Apprentice Entertainment teen group, part of the youth program at the Arcata Playhouse, have created an outstanding, unique Zine. The Zine is a small art booklet with original poems, musings and art that was created, curated, hand bound and screen printed by members of the Playhouse teen group, Apprentice Entertainment. Come down and celebrate the release of the Zine and get a copy to support the program.

Special thanks to the Sanctuary, Humboldt Area Foundation and Footprint Foundation for their support!

Apprentice Entertainment is a select group of truly special and magical Humboldt teens! The goal of the program is to empower youth to produce, promote and play in the arts to build greater community engagement and cross-generational communication. The program includes mentoring for young producers, as well as workshops and activities held at the Arcata Playhouse, and plenty of popcorn to go around! Apprentice Entertainment has successfully created, and will continue to create, many "zany" variety shows, "groovin'" concerts, "funky" dance parties, and present other musical groups and theatrical troupes. Their "spunk" and "wit" have charmed Humboldtians of all shapes and sizes – there’s simply nothing else like it!

Humboldt Fervor Fest a Huge Success

Fervor_Entrance.jpgThe Humboldt Fervor Fest, held in the Creamery District on Aug. 13, 2016 from 1-5 p.m., was a resounding success in so many ways.  More than one thousand people attended the fermented food and drink sampling event.  They enjoyed beer, wine, cider, kombucha, distilled spirits, pickled foods, cheese, bread and other delicious items.

The four local bands, dancers, stilt walkers, giant puppets and performance performance artists enthralled the attendees throughout the four-hour event.  See the Humboldt Fervor Fest website for more information on the festival.  The festival was a fundraiser for Humboldt Made and the Arcata Playhouse.

Humboldt Fervor Fest organizers are delighted that the festival inaugurated reusable glasses, plates and utensils to serve the festival’s delicious food and drink. The new “community cupboard” was initiated by Humboldt Fervor Fest, Zero Waste Humboldt and the Sister City Project, which hosts the I Street Block Party.  The community cupboard is a set of dishes, glasses and utensils that are available to non-profit organizations who sponsor festivals in our region.  The three founding organizations hope to be adding other local non-profits such as Arcata Mainstreet who put on the Oyster Fest and Arts! Arcata and the Arcata Chamber of Commerce who organize the 4th of July Jubilee.

The Arcata Playhouse and Humboldt Made are teaming up to put on Humboldt’s first ever Fermentation Festival.

The Humboldt Fervor Fest!

fervor_flyer.jpgOn August 13th from 1-5pm we’ll be celebrating all things fermented, cider, kombucha, beer, wine and distilled spirits oh my, sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, bread, cheese, and so much more!!

This one-of-a-kind festival celebrates the alchemy behind many of our favorite foods and
beverages. The Creamery District streets will be packed with over forty producers, offering samples of their fermented delicacies. In addition to discovering new tastes, there are learning opportunities, demonstrations for those who are interested in fermenting at home and an arts and crafts market with local music to get your dance on.
